Easy Bible・2 Chronicles 19
2 Chronicles 19:5
He appointed judges in the land, in each of the fortified cities of Judah.
After returning from a victorious battle, King Jehoshaphat of Judah appointed judges in the land to administer justice. He instructed them to judge fairly and impartially, warning them that their judgments were not for man but for the Lord, who is always with them when they are making decisions. He emphasized that they must be careful in their judgments, for the Lord our God does not tolerate injustice, partiality, or bribery. Jehoshaphat further instructed the judges to take their responsibilities seriously, reminding them that they were not judging for man alone, but for the Lord who is present during their judgment. He urged them to be courageous and not to be intimidated by anyone, for God is with them in their work. He encouraged them to act with integrity and to be faithful to the Lord, knowing that their work would be rewarded. Jehoshaphat's appointment of judges and his instructions to them reflect his desire for a just and righteous society. He understood the importance of having impartial judges who would administer justice according to God's standards. His words serve as a reminder to us today that our actions and judgments should always be guided by the fear of God, for He is the ultimate judge.
