About this Chapter

2 Chronicles 22 begins with the reign of Ahaziah, who was the son of King Jehoram and the grandson of King Jehoshaphat. Ahaziah was only 22 years old when he became king, and he ruled over Judah for just one year. He followed in the footsteps of his wicked father and continued to promote idol worship in the land. During his short reign, Ahaziah formed an alliance with King Joram of Israel to fight against the Arameans. However, this alliance proved to be disastrous as God was against it. Ahaziah's fleet of ships was destroyed by the Lord, and he himself was severely injured in battle. He later died in Jerusalem and was not given a proper burial. Ahaziah's reign serves as a reminder of the consequences of turning away from God and embracing idolatry. Despite his short reign, Ahaziah's actions had far-reaching consequences for the kingdom of Judah. It is a cautionary tale of the dangers of following in the footsteps of wickedness and the importance of staying faithful to God.
