About this Chapter

In this chapter, we see Hezekiah, the king of Judah, facing a great threat from the king of Assyria, Sennacherib. Sennacherib had already conquered many cities and now he was coming against Jerusalem. Hezekiah took immediate action by strengthening the city's defenses and stopping the water supply outside the city. He also encouraged the people, reminding them that they had the Lord on their side. However, Sennacherib's commander came and mocked the people, trying to discourage them. But Hezekiah and the people remained steadfast and turned to the Lord in prayer. Hezekiah's prayer was filled with humility and trust in God. He acknowledged God as the supreme and powerful God, who created the heavens and the earth. He pleaded with God to save them from the hands of the Assyrians so that all the kingdoms of the earth would know that He alone is God. God heard Hezekiah's prayer and sent an angel to destroy the Assyrian army, delivering Jerusalem from their hands. This chapter teaches us the importance of turning to God in times of trouble. Hezekiah's faith and trust in God were unwavering, even in the face of a powerful enemy. Hezekiah's prayer is a model for us to follow, as it demonstrates the humility and trust we should have when seeking God's help. It also reminds us that God is powerful and able to deliver us from any situation. When we turn to Him in prayer, He is faithful to hear us and provide the help we need.
