2 Chronicles 34:31
The king stood by his pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD -to follow the LORD and keep his commands, regulations and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, and to obey the words of the covenant written in this book.

About this Chapter

In this chapter, we see King Josiah of Judah, who became king at the age of eight, leading a great revival in the nation. He began to seek God and purged the land of idols and false worship. During the renovation of the temple, a copy of the Book of the Law was found and read aloud to the king. Josiah was deeply convicted by the words of the Law and tore his clothes in repentance. He then made a covenant to follow God's commands and led the people to do the same. Josiah removed all the idols and altars of foreign gods, and even destroyed the high places where people worshiped idols. He commanded the people to observe the Passover, which had not been done in such a way since the days of the judges. Josiah's reforms were thorough and sincere, and the people responded with wholehearted obedience. This chapter reminds us of the importance of seeking God and obeying His commands. Josiah's example shows us that it's never too late to turn back to God and make a fresh start. When we humble ourselves before God, repent of our sins, and commit to following Him wholeheartedly, He is faithful to forgive us and restore us. Let us be inspired by King Josiah's faithfulness and seek to live lives that honor and please God.
