Easy Bible・Ezra 7
Ezra 7:10
For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the LORD, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.
In the seventh year of King Artaxerxes, Ezra, a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, was granted permission to go to Jerusalem. Ezra was from the priestly lineage of Aaron, and he was described as a scribe skilled in the law of the Lord. He was given authority to teach and enforce the law among the Israelites. Ezra's mission was to bring the people of Israel back to the Lord and to teach them the laws and commands of God. He was also given generous provisions from the king and the Persian officials to support the work of the temple in Jerusalem. Ezra acknowledged that all of this was a result of the gracious hand of God upon him. Ezra set out on his journey to Jerusalem with a group of Israelites, priests, Levites, and temple servants. Along the way, he proclaimed a fast to seek God's guidance and protection. They arrived safely in Jerusalem, and Ezra delivered the king's decrees to the officials and leaders of Israel. He was welcomed by the people, and he began teaching them the law of the Lord.
