About this Chapter

Nehemiah, the cupbearer to the king, was sad when he heard about the destruction of Jerusalem. He prayed to God and asked the king for permission to go and rebuild the city. The king granted his request and Nehemiah set out on his journey. When Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem, he inspected the walls of the city during the night. He then gathered the people and told them about God's favor upon him and his desire to rebuild the city. The people were encouraged and agreed to help Nehemiah in the rebuilding process. Despite facing opposition from some officials, Nehemiah and the people worked together diligently to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. They were able to complete the task in a remarkable 52 days, with God's guidance and protection.
