Easy Bible・Nehemiah 8
Nehemiah 8:10
Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
In Nehemiah 8, the people of Israel gathered together to listen to the reading of the Law of Moses. Ezra the priest stood on a high wooden platform and read the law from daybreak until noon. As the people listened to the law being read, they were moved to tears because they realized how far they had strayed from God's commands. But Ezra and the Levites encouraged them, saying, 'This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.' They told the people to go and enjoy good food and drink, and to share with those who had nothing prepared. The people obeyed the words of Ezra and celebrated with great joy, for they understood the words that had been made known to them. They rejoiced because they realized that the joy of the Lord was their strength.
