Easy Bible・Nehemiah 9
Nehemiah 9:6
You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.
In Nehemiah 9, the Israelites gathered together to fast, wear sackcloth, and put dust on their heads as a sign of repentance. They separated themselves from foreigners and confessed their sins, as well as the sins of their ancestors. They recounted God's faithfulness throughout history, from the creation of the heavens and earth to the Exodus from Egypt and their journey to the Promised Land. They acknowledged their disobedience and rebellion against God, but also recognized His mercy, compassion, and forgiveness. The Israelites praised God for His guidance, provision, and protection. They remembered how God provided manna in the wilderness and gave them water from a rock. They acknowledged God's leading through the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. They recognized that God had blessed them abundantly, even when they were unfaithful. In their prayer, the Israelites made a covenant with God, promising to follow His commandments and not intermarry with the surrounding nations. They acknowledged that their current state of captivity was a result of their disobedience, but they expressed hope in God's mercy and pleaded for His deliverance. They committed themselves to worshiping and obeying God wholeheartedly.
