About this Chapter

In Esther 5, Queen Esther, after three days of fasting and prayer, approaches King Xerxes uninvited, risking her life. When the king sees her, he is pleased and extends his golden scepter, sparing her life. The king offers to grant Esther any request, up to half his kingdom. Esther, instead of making her request immediately, invites the king and Haman to a private banquet. At the banquet, the king again asks Esther to make her request, promising to grant it. Esther wisely delays her request for a second banquet the next day. Meanwhile, Haman, full of pride, boasts about his wealth and power to his friends and family. However, his joy is short-lived, as he becomes angry when he sees Mordecai refusing to bow down to him.
