Easy Bible・Job 4
Job 4:1
Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied:
Eliphaz, one of Job's friends, begins to speak and accuses Job of being inconsistent. He questions Job's integrity and suggests that Job's suffering must be a result of his own sin. Eliphaz believes that God punishes the wicked, and therefore, Job's suffering is a clear indication of his guilt. Eliphaz shares a vision he had, where a spirit appeared before him and spoke to him. The spirit claimed that no mortal can be righteous before God and that even the angels are not without fault. Eliphaz uses this vision to further support his argument that Job must have done something to deserve his suffering. Eliphaz concludes his speech by advising Job to seek God's mercy and repent of his sins. He believes that if Job turns to God and confesses his wrongdoing, God will restore him and bless him once again.
