Psalms 10:17
You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,
Psalm 10 reveals the cry of the psalmist, who questions why the wicked seem to prosper while the innocent suffer. The psalmist describes the arrogant and wicked person who boasts about his desires and denies God's existence. He preys on the weak, oppresses the poor, and takes advantage of those who are defenseless. The psalmist pleads for God's intervention and justice, asking Him to arise and bring judgment upon the wicked. The psalmist acknowledges that God sees and knows everything, including the wicked's schemes and the suffering of the oppressed. He trusts in God's justice, believing that He will defend the fatherless and the oppressed, ensuring that the wicked will be held accountable for their actions. The psalmist expresses confidence that God is the ultimate protector and refuge for those in need. In the midst of the psalmist's anguish and despair, he finds hope in God's character. He recognizes that God is the eternal King, whose reign will endure forever. The psalmist encourages the oppressed to put their trust in God, knowing that He will hear their cries and bring justice. Despite the temporary success of the wicked, the psalmist affirms that God will ultimately establish righteousness and bring an end to the oppression of the innocent.
