Psalms 102:1
Hear my prayer, O LORD; let my cry for help come to you.

About this Chapter

This psalm is a prayer of an afflicted person who pours out their heart before the Lord. They cry out to God in distress, acknowledging their own frailty and the brevity of life. Despite their suffering, they trust in God's faithfulness and seek His mercy and intervention. The psalmist describes their physical and emotional anguish, feeling like a lonely bird on a rooftop and wasting away like a shadow. They express their sorrow and distress, feeling as if God has forgotten them and their enemies are mocking them. However, amidst their affliction, the psalmist holds on to the unchanging nature of God. They declare that God is eternal and His throne will endure forever. They seek God's intervention for the sake of future generations, believing that God will arise and have compassion on Zion.
