Psalms 105:1
Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
This chapter is a song of praise and thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness to His people throughout history. It begins with an exhortation to give thanks to the Lord and to call on His name, proclaiming His deeds among the nations. The psalmist recounts the various ways in which God showed His faithfulness to the Israelites. He remembers how God made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, promising them the land of Canaan as their inheritance. He recalls how God protected His people during the time of famine, sending Joseph ahead of them to Egypt to provide for them. The psalmist also remembers how God delivered His people from slavery in Egypt, sending Moses and Aaron to perform signs and wonders before Pharaoh. He recounts the plagues that God brought upon Egypt and how He led His people through the wilderness, providing for their needs and guiding them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
