Psalms 110:1
The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."
In this psalm, David speaks of a conversation between two Lords. The first Lord, who is God the Father, says to the second Lord, who is the Messiah, to sit at His right hand until He makes His enemies a footstool for His feet. This verse is a prophetic declaration of the exalted position and authority of the Messiah. David also speaks of the Messiah as a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. This is significant because in Jewish tradition, only the descendants of Aaron could be priests. But here, the Messiah is described as a priest in a different order, indicating His superior priesthood and eternal reign. This psalm is often quoted in the New Testament to show the divinity and exaltation of Jesus Christ. It highlights His role as both a king and a priest, and His ultimate victory over His enemies. As believers, we can find comfort and hope in knowing that our Lord Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, interceding for us and ruling over all.
