Psalms 111:1
Praise the LORD. I will extol the LORD with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly.
This psalm is a hymn of praise to the Lord for his great works. It begins with a call to praise the Lord with all our hearts and in the company of the upright. The psalmist declares that the works of the Lord are great and that they are studied by those who delight in them. The psalmist then specifically mentions some of the Lord's works, such as his gracious and compassionate character, his provision of food for those who fear him, and his covenant with his people. The psalmist emphasizes that the Lord's works are faithful and just, and they are established forever. The psalm concludes by affirming that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Those who obey his commands have good understanding. The psalmist praises the Lord for his wisdom and understanding, and declares that his praise endures forever.
