Psalms 120:1
I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
In this psalm, the psalmist cries out to the Lord for deliverance from deceitful tongues. He expresses his distress and laments the fact that he dwells among those who hate peace. The psalmist longs for peace, but is surrounded by conflict and lies. He prays for God's judgment upon those who speak deceitfully and cause strife. The psalmist compares himself to a dweller in Meshech and Kedar, which are symbolic of places far away from God's presence. He feels like a foreigner in his own land, as he is surrounded by those who speak falsehoods. Despite the challenges he faces, the psalmist remains faithful to God and continues to call upon Him for deliverance. This psalm serves as a reminder for us to seek God's help in times of trouble and to trust in His deliverance. It also highlights the importance of living in peace and avoiding deceitful speech. Just as the psalmist cried out to God for deliverance, we too can turn to Him in our moments of distress and find comfort and strength.
