Psalms 121:1
I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from?
Psalm 121 is a song of ascent, a prayer for protection and guidance. The psalmist starts by lifting up their eyes to the mountains, asking where their help comes from. They declare that their help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. The psalmist acknowledges that God will not let their foot slip and that He who watches over them will not slumber. The psalmist continues by emphasizing the constant presence and protection of the Lord. They declare that the Lord is their shade at their right hand, protecting them from the scorching sun during the day. They affirm that the Lord will keep them from all harm and watch over their life. The psalmist concludes by stating that the Lord will watch over their coming and going, both now and forevermore. Psalm 121 reminds us that God is our ultimate source of help and protection. He is always watching over us, guiding our steps and shielding us from harm. In times of trouble or uncertainty, we can lift our eyes to the Lord and find comfort in His constant presence. As we trust in Him, He will faithfully watch over us, providing the help and guidance we need.
