Psalms 123:1
I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven.

About this Chapter

This psalm is a cry for mercy from the Lord. The psalmist acknowledges that they look to the Lord, just as a servant looks to their master, and they plead for the Lord's mercy and compassion. The psalmist also describes their situation of being mocked and treated with contempt by their enemies, and they ask the Lord to have mercy on them and deliver them from their enemies' scorn. The psalmist recognizes that their only hope is in the Lord, who is enthroned in heaven. They acknowledge that the Lord has the power to show mercy and compassion, and they trust in His unfailing love. The psalmist ends the psalm by asking the Lord to have mercy on them and to deliver them from their enemies.
