In this psalm, David cries out to God in a time of distress and feeling abandoned. He pleads with God to answer him and to give him light for his eyes, lest he sleep the sleep of death and his enemies rejoice over him. Despite feeling forgotten, David ends the psalm with a declaration of trust in God's unfailing love and salvation.
