Psalms 130:1
Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD;
Psalm 130 is a heartfelt cry for God's mercy. The psalmist begins by acknowledging their desperate need for God's forgiveness and redemption. They recognize that if God kept a record of sins, no one could stand before Him. However, the psalmist has hope in God's unfailing love and redemption. They wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, longing for His forgiveness and guidance. The psalmist encourages the people of Israel to put their hope in the Lord, for with Him is unfailing love and full redemption. The psalmist expresses their personal trust in the Lord, declaring that Israel should put their hope in Him. They urge the people to trust in God's word and promises. The psalmist reminds the people that God is their source of hope and steadfast love. They encourage the people to wait patiently for the Lord, knowing that He will redeem them from all their sins. In the final paragraph, the psalmist calls on Israel to put their hope in the Lord, for with Him is abundant redemption. The psalmist expresses their confidence in God's ability to redeem His people from all their sins. They encourage Israel to trust in God's steadfast love, knowing that He will deliver them from their iniquities. The psalmist ends with a declaration of hope and trust in the Lord.
