Psalms 133:1
How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!
This psalm emphasizes the beauty and importance of unity among God's people. It starts by saying, 'How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!' Unity among believers is compared to precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, and flowing down on Aaron's beard and collar. It is also compared to the dew of Hermon falling on Mount Zion. The psalm concludes by saying that where there is unity, God bestows his blessing and life forevermore. The image of oil being poured on the head and running down the beard symbolizes the abundance and richness of unity. Just as the anointing oil was used to consecrate and set apart priests, unity among believers is a sign of consecration and being set apart for God's purposes. The dew of Hermon falling on Mount Zion represents the refreshing and life-giving nature of unity. Just as the dew brings life and vitality to the land, unity brings spiritual life and vitality to God's people. Unity is not just a nice idea, but it is a powerful force that brings God's blessing. When believers are united, it creates an atmosphere where God's presence and blessing can dwell. Unity is a testimony to the world of God's love and power. It is through unity that God's purposes are fulfilled and his kingdom is advanced. Therefore, let us strive for unity among believers, cherishing and valuing the precious gift of unity that God has given us.
