Psalms 149:1
Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints.
This chapter is a call to praise the Lord. It begins with the exhortation to sing a new song and to praise God in the assembly of his faithful people. The people of God are called to rejoice in their Maker and to praise Him with dancing, tambourine, and harp. They are to praise Him for His love and for the victory He has given them over their enemies. The chapter also highlights the fact that the Lord takes delight in His people. He crowns the humble with victory and exults in His faithful ones. The people of God are called to praise the Lord with the double-edged sword in their hands, executing His vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples. This is the honor given to all His faithful ones. In conclusion, the chapter emphasizes that the praise of the Lord is the privilege of His people. It is their honor and their joy. They are to praise Him for His love, His victory, and His delight in them. The chapter ends with the call for all His faithful ones to praise the Lord.
