About this Chapter

In this psalm, David expresses his confidence and joy in God's presence. He acknowledges that apart from God, he has nothing good in his life. David declares that God is his refuge and that he finds delight in the company of the godly people around him. He rejects the worship of other gods and acknowledges that only God can bring him true joy and security. David expresses his trust in God's guidance and protection. He knows that God will not abandon him and will always be by his side. David finds comfort in the fact that God will not allow him to be shaken and that he will receive blessings and inheritance from God. He praises God for the counsel and instruction He provides, and his heart is glad and his tongue rejoices in God's presence. David concludes the psalm by saying that God will show him the path of life and that in His presence there is fullness of joy. David acknowledges that true and lasting pleasure can only be found in God. He trusts in God's unfailing love and declares that he will dwell in God's presence forever.
