Psalms 22:1
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning?

About this Chapter

In this psalm, David cries out to God in anguish, feeling abandoned and forsaken. He expresses his deep pain and suffering, feeling like a worm and not a man. Despite his distress, David still acknowledges God as holy and worthy of praise. David describes his enemies surrounding him, mocking and taunting him. He feels weak and helpless, his strength dried up like a potsherd. He pleads for God's help and deliverance, asking Him not to be far away in his time of trouble. In the midst of his despair, David expresses his trust in God's faithfulness. He recounts how God has been with him since birth, and how God is his strength and refuge. David ends the psalm with a declaration of praise, confident that God will answer his cry and deliver him.
