Psalms 23:1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

About this Chapter

In this psalm, David expresses his deep trust and confidence in God as his shepherd. He acknowledges that the Lord provides for all his needs, guides him in the right paths, and comforts him in times of trouble. David recognizes that he lacks nothing under the care of his shepherd, and he is assured of God's presence and goodness throughout his life. David uses the metaphor of a shepherd to describe the relationship between God and His people. Just as a shepherd cares for and protects his flock, God lovingly watches over and guides His children. He leads them to green pastures and still waters, symbolizing provision and peace. Even in the darkest valleys, David finds comfort and courage because he knows that God is with him. This psalm reminds us that God is our faithful shepherd who takes care of us in every aspect of our lives. He leads us, provides for us, protects us, and comforts us. As we trust in Him, we can have the confidence that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Like David, let us declare with faith, 'The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.'
