Psalms 30:5
For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
In this chapter, the psalmist praises God for delivering him from a time of distress. He begins by exalting God for lifting him out of the depths and not letting his enemies rejoice over him. The psalmist then recalls how he cried out to God for help and God healed him, rescuing him from the grave. The psalmist acknowledges that he had become complacent in his prosperity and took God's favor for granted, but God's anger was turned away and replaced with joy. The psalmist declares that he will praise God forever and encourages others to join him in giving thanks to the Lord. The psalmist reflects on his past experience of God's faithfulness and declares that God turns mourning into dancing. He acknowledges that weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning. The psalmist encourages the readers to trust in God's unfailing love and to seek His face. He reminds them that God hears their cries for help and will come to their aid. The psalmist concludes by praising God, declaring that he will give thanks to Him forever.
