Easy Bible・Psalms 42
Psalms 42:1
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.
The psalmist expresses his deep longing for God's presence, comparing it to the thirst of a deer for water. He remembers the times when he used to worship God with joy and praises, but now he feels downcast and disturbed, as if God has forgotten him. Yet, in the midst of his despair, he encourages himself to hope in God and praises Him, knowing that God is his salvation and his rock.
