Psalms 56:3
When I am afraid, I will trust in you.

About this Chapter

In Psalm 56, David expresses his trust in God even in the face of fear and opposition. He begins by acknowledging his enemies and their constant attacks against him, but he declares that he will not be afraid because he knows that God is on his side. David confidently proclaims that even when he is afraid, he will trust in God. David then asks a rhetorical question, 'What can mere mortals do to me?' He recognizes that human opponents may cause harm, but ultimately, their power is limited. David's faith in God is unshakable, knowing that God is his helper and the one who sustains him. David concludes the psalm by expressing his gratitude and commitment to God. He vows to fulfill his vows to God and praises Him for delivering him from death. David acknowledges that God has rescued him from his enemies and has kept his feet from stumbling. Therefore, he will continue to trust in God and proclaim His faithfulness to others.
