Psalms 88:1
O LORD, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you.
Psalm 88 is a lament psalm written by Heman the Ezrahite. It is a cry for help in a time of deep despair and darkness. The psalmist pours out his heart to God, expressing his overwhelming sorrow and anguish. The psalmist begins by addressing God as the Lord of his salvation. He pleads with God to listen to his cries for help, as he feels overwhelmed by his troubles and nears the point of death. The psalmist feels abandoned by God and is filled with despair, feeling as if he is trapped in darkness with no escape. The psalmist expresses his loneliness and isolation, feeling rejected by both God and his friends. He describes his physical and emotional pain, as his soul is full of troubles and his body is weak. Despite his desperate situation, the psalmist continues to cry out to God, asking for His mercy and deliverance.
