Proverbs 7:1
My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.
Proverbs 7 warns against the seductive ways of an adulterous woman. The chapter begins with an exhortation from King Solomon to his son to keep his teachings and commands in his heart. He urges his son to obey his words, which will give him life and protect him from the enticing words of the adulterous woman. Solomon then describes an encounter between a naive young man and the adulterous woman. He vividly portrays her seductive tactics, including her attire, her flattering speech, and her deceitful promises. The young man is enticed by her and follows her to her house. In the final section of the chapter, Solomon warns of the dire consequences of falling into the trap of the adulterous woman. He describes the aftermath of the encounter, which includes shame, regret, and the loss of honor. Solomon emphasizes the importance of wisdom and understanding in avoiding the seductive temptations of the adulterous woman.
