Proverbs 14:12
There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
Proverbs 14 begins with the contrast between the wise and the foolish. The wise build their lives on a foundation of understanding and knowledge, while the foolish walk in the darkness of their own ignorance. The chapter then goes on to highlight various aspects of wisdom, including the importance of integrity, the consequences of wickedness, and the value of hard work. It also emphasizes the role of wisdom in relationships, urging us to be slow to anger, to speak words of kindness, and to avoid the company of the wicked. One key verse in this chapter is Proverbs 14:12, which says, 'There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.' This verse reminds us that our own understanding and judgment can be flawed, and we need to rely on God's wisdom to guide our paths. It serves as a warning against the dangers of self-reliance and encourages us to seek God's guidance in all that we do. Overall, Proverbs 14 teaches us the importance of seeking wisdom, making wise choices, and living a life of integrity. It reminds us that true wisdom comes from God, and when we walk in His ways, we will experience His blessings and guidance in our lives.
