Easy Bible・Ecclesiastes 9
Ecclesiastes 9:7
Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do.
In this chapter, the Preacher reflects on the unpredictable nature of life. He observes that both the righteous and the wicked face the same fate - death. Therefore, he encourages people to enjoy life, eat, drink, and find joy in their work. He advises them to make the most of each day, for no one knows what the future holds. The Preacher also emphasizes the importance of doing one's best in everything, for there is no work, knowledge, or wisdom in the grave. The Preacher acknowledges that life is not always fair, and sometimes the righteous suffer while the wicked prosper. He questions the meaning of life and the existence of divine justice. However, he concludes that it is better to be alive, even in the midst of uncertainty and injustice, than to be dead. He advises people to seize the opportunities they have and enjoy the blessings of life. In the final part of the chapter, the Preacher warns against laziness and encourages diligence. He uses the analogy of a small city being attacked by a mighty king to illustrate the importance of being prepared and proactive in life. He advises that wisdom is better than strength, and a little folly can ruin great wisdom. He reminds people that death comes to everyone, and the deeds done in life will be forgotten. Therefore, he encourages them to live with purpose and make the most of their time.
