Isaiah 10:5
"Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger, in whose hand is the club of my wrath!
In Isaiah 10, God pronounces judgment on Assyria, the nation that He used as an instrument to punish Israel. God declares that He will send Assyria against a godless nation, but Assyria's heart is proud, thinking that its own power and might are responsible for its victories. However, God reminds Assyria that it is merely a tool in His hands, and He will punish it for its arrogance. God's judgment on Assyria is severe. He says that He will punish Assyria for its wickedness and arrogance. God compares Assyria to a tool that He uses to accomplish His purposes, but once He is finished with it, He will punish it for its pride. God will cut down Assyria like a mighty forest, destroying its power and influence. Despite God's judgment on Assyria, He reassures His people, Israel, that He will always protect and preserve a remnant for Himself. God promises that even though Assyria may oppress Israel, it will not ultimately prevail over them. God's purpose for Israel will stand, and He will bring about justice and deliverance for His people.
