Easy Bible・Isaiah 11
Isaiah 11:1
A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
Isaiah 11 speaks of the coming of a righteous branch from the stump of Jesse, the father of King David. This branch will be filled with the Spirit of the Lord and possess wisdom, understanding, counsel, power, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord. He will judge with righteousness and bring justice to the oppressed. The chapter also describes the peaceful reign of the righteous branch. The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. This chapter reminds us of the hope we have in the coming of Jesus Christ, who is the fulfillment of the prophecy of the righteous branch. Through his sacrifice on the cross, he brings peace, justice, and reconciliation to the world. As believers, we can look forward to the day when all creation will be restored and dwell in harmony under the reign of our Lord and Savior.
