Easy Bible・Isaiah 16
Isaiah 16:5
In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it- one from the house of David- one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.
This chapter focuses on Moab, a nation that was known for its pride and arrogance. The chapter begins with a call for Moab to send lambs as tribute to the ruler of the land. However, the nation's pride prevents them from submitting to the Lord. As a result, Moab will face destruction and devastation. The chapter also mentions a future ruler from the line of David who will reign in righteousness and bring peace to the land. This ruler is described as a shelter from the heat, a refuge from the storm, and a shade from the desert. He will be a source of hope and security for the people. In conclusion, Isaiah 16 warns against the dangers of pride and disobedience. It reminds us that true security and peace can only be found in submitting to the Lord and His righteous ruler.
