Easy Bible・Isaiah 18
Isaiah 18:1
Woe to the land of whirring wings along the rivers of Cush,
In this chapter, Isaiah delivers a message from God to the land of Cush, which is located in present-day Sudan. The message is a warning of impending judgment. God is depicted as a banner being lifted high on the mountains, and the people of Cush are told to pay attention and listen to the message. The message describes a time when a powerful nation will come from afar, with a language that is unintelligible to the people of Cush. This nation will be fierce and mighty, and it will bring fear and trembling to the land. However, God assures the people of Cush that He will be watching from His dwelling place and will remain quiet until the time of judgment. The chapter continues with a description of the people of Cush sending messengers in boats to a distant land, possibly to seek help or form alliances. The messengers are told to go quickly and deliver the message to a people who are tall and smooth-skinned, and who live in a land divided by rivers. The message is a call for the people of that land to gather together and present themselves before God. The chapter ends with the promise that at that time, the people of Cush will bring their tribute to God, who is worshipped on Mount Zion. The message of Isaiah 18 serves as a reminder that God sees and knows all things. He is aware of the actions and plans of all nations, and He will bring judgment and justice in His perfect timing. It also highlights the importance of listening to and obeying God's messages, even when they come from unexpected sources or in unfamiliar ways.
