Isaiah 28:14
Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scoffers who rule this people in Jerusalem.

About this Chapter

In this chapter, Isaiah delivers a message of judgment against the people of Ephraim and Jerusalem. He begins by criticizing their pride and arrogance, comparing them to drunkards who are overcome by wine. He warns them that their pride will lead to their downfall, and that God will bring judgment upon them. Isaiah then goes on to describe the judgment that will come upon them. He uses the imagery of a farmer who carefully plows and sows his fields, and then waits for the harvest. In the same way, God will bring judgment upon the people, allowing their enemies to overrun them and destroy their cities. Despite this message of judgment, Isaiah also offers hope for the future. He speaks of a cornerstone that God will lay in Zion, a sure foundation that will bring stability and security. He encourages the people to put their trust in God, rather than in their own strength or alliances with other nations.
