Easy Bible・Isaiah 29
Isaiah 29:13
The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.
In this chapter, Isaiah prophesies about the Lord's judgment on Jerusalem. The people of Jerusalem honor God with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. They worship Him in vain, following the teachings of men instead of seeking a true relationship with God. Isaiah warns that the Lord will bring distress upon Jerusalem, making it like an immovable rock. The city will be surrounded by armies and brought low. However, God promises to intervene and deliver Jerusalem from its enemies. Isaiah also speaks of a future time when the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and the blind will see through the darkness. The humble will rejoice in the Lord, and the needy will find joy in the Holy One of Israel. Ultimately, God's plan is to bring restoration and redemption to His people.
