Isaiah 34:1
Come near, you nations, and listen; pay attention, you peoples! Let the earth hear, and all that is in it, the world, and all that comes out of it!

About this Chapter

In this chapter, Isaiah prophesies about God's judgment on the nations. The Lord's anger is directed towards all the nations and their armies. The whole earth will witness the outpouring of His wrath. The mountains will be covered with the blood of the slain, and the heavens will be rolled up like a scroll. The stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. The Lord will execute judgment on all the wicked, and the sword of His justice will not return until it has accomplished its purpose. Isaiah describes the desolation and destruction that will come upon the nations. The land will become a wasteland, and the streams will turn into pitch. The land will be filled with burning sulfur, and the smoke will rise forever. No one will pass through it, and no one will dwell in it. Only wild animals and birds of prey will inhabit the desolate land. This chapter serves as a reminder that God is the ultimate judge of all nations. He will bring justice to the wicked and deliverance to the oppressed. It is a call to repentance and a warning to those who oppose God's righteousness. As believers, we can take comfort in knowing that God's justice will prevail and that He will ultimately restore all things.
