Easy Bible・Isaiah 35
Isaiah 35:1
The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus,
Isaiah 35 describes a future time of restoration and joy. The wilderness and the dry land will be glad, and the desert will rejoice and blossom. It foretells the coming of the Lord with vengeance, and the recompense of God. In this future time, the eyes of the blind will be opened, the ears of the deaf unstopped, the lame will leap like a deer, and the mute tongue will shout for joy. The chapter also speaks of the transformation of the desert into a place of abundant water, with streams breaking forth in the wilderness and pools of water in the desert. It describes how the burning sand will become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. It emphasizes that this transformation will be a sign of God's presence and blessing. Isaiah 35 encourages the people to be strong and not afraid, for God will come with vengeance and save them. It reassures them that in this future time, the redeemed of the Lord will return with singing and everlasting joy. Sorrow and sighing will flee away, and they will enter Zion with singing and crowned with everlasting joy.
