Easy Bible・Isaiah 40
Isaiah 40:28
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
Isaiah 40 begins with a comforting message from God to His people. The chapter starts by proclaiming that God's people have served their sentence and their sin has been paid for. A voice cries out to prepare the way for the Lord, as a herald announces the coming of God. The chapter then describes the greatness and power of God, who is the Creator of the universe and the One who sustains it. It emphasizes that God is eternal, never grows tired or weary, and His understanding is beyond measure. The chapter concludes by reassuring God's people that those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength and soar on wings like eagles. The key verses of Isaiah 40 are found in verses 28-31: 'Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.' These verses remind us of the unfathomable power and strength of God, and the promise that those who put their hope in Him will find renewed strength and endurance. Isaiah 40 is a chapter that brings comfort and hope. It reminds us that no matter how difficult our circumstances may be, God is always with us and He is the source of our strength. It encourages us to trust in the Lord and wait upon Him, knowing that He will provide the strength we need to overcome any challenges we face. This chapter also points to the coming of Jesus Christ, who is the ultimate fulfillment of God's promise to His people. As we reflect on Isaiah 40, may we find comfort in the everlasting God and be strengthened by the hope we have in Him.
