"Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations.

About this Chapter

Isaiah 42 introduces the Servant of the Lord, who is chosen by God and anointed with His Spirit. The Servant will bring justice to the nations and establish God's law on the earth. He will not shout or cry out, but will be gentle and compassionate. The Servant is described as a light for the Gentiles, bringing salvation to the ends of the earth. The chapter also highlights the contrast between the idols worshiped by the nations and the true God. The idols are powerless and cannot save, while the Lord is the Creator of all things and the One who sustains His people. Despite their disobedience and idolatry, God promises to restore and redeem His people, leading them out of darkness into light. Isaiah 42 ultimately points to Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of the prophecy. Jesus is the perfect Servant of the Lord, who brings justice, salvation, and light to all nations. Through His sacrificial death and resurrection, Jesus offers forgiveness and redemption to all who believe in Him, fulfilling God's plan of salvation for the world.
