Isaiah 46:4
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

About this Chapter

In this chapter, God reminds the people of Israel that He alone is the true God who can save them. He contrasts Himself with the idols made by human hands, which are powerless and unable to help. God declares that He has been with His people from the beginning, carrying them through their troubles and rescuing them from their enemies. God specifically addresses the people who are carried away into exile, assuring them that He will continue to be their support and deliverer. He reminds them of His faithfulness and power, highlighting the fact that He alone can predict and bring about the future. God challenges the idols to do the same, pointing out their inability to save or even move themselves. The chapter concludes with a call to the people to remember God's sovereignty and trust in Him. Despite the challenges they face, God assures them that He will always be there for them, carrying them and delivering them from their enemies. He is their steadfast rock, unchanging and reliable in every situation.
