Easy Bible・Isaiah 47
Isaiah 47:1
"Go down, sit in the dust, Virgin Daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, Daughter of the Babylonians. No more will you be called tender or delicate.
Isaiah 47 describes the downfall of Babylon, a powerful nation that had oppressed God's people. The chapter begins with God addressing Babylon, calling them a delicate and pampered queen. God warns Babylon that their pride and wickedness will lead to their destruction. God declares that Babylon will no longer be called the 'Lady of Kingdoms' and that their sorceries and enchantments will be useless in saving them. Babylon, who had trusted in their own wisdom and power, will be humiliated and brought low. The chapter ends with God's declaration that He will take vengeance on Babylon for the harm they inflicted on His people. Babylon's destruction will be complete and irreversible. This chapter serves as a reminder that God is just and will bring judgment upon those who oppress His people.
