Isaiah 57:15
For this is what the high and lofty One says- he who lives forever, whose name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

About this Chapter

This chapter reminds us that God is the High and Lofty One who dwells in eternity. He is holy and separate from sin. Despite the wickedness and idolatry of the people, God still offers comfort and forgiveness to those who repent and humble themselves before Him. The chapter begins by describing how the righteous perish and no one takes it to heart. The wicked, on the other hand, thrive in their evil ways. However, God sees everything and will eventually bring judgment upon the wicked. God calls out to the people, urging them to repent and turn back to Him. He promises to heal and restore those who are contrite and humble in spirit. He will not always accuse or harbor His anger, but desires to bring comfort and peace to His people.
