For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.

About this Chapter

In Isaiah 62, God promises to bring salvation and restoration to Jerusalem. The chapter starts with God's declaration that He will not keep silent until Jerusalem's righteousness shines like the dawn and her salvation like a blazing torch. God will give Jerusalem a new name, a name that reflects her future glory and honor. God promises to protect Jerusalem and make her a crown of splendor in His hand. He will no longer call her forsaken or desolate, but instead, she will be called Hephzibah and Beulah, meaning 'my delight is in her' and 'married', respectively. God's promise extends not only to Jerusalem but also to the nations. He declares that the nations will see Jerusalem's righteousness and all kings will see her glory. Jerusalem will be a praise among the nations. God appoints watchmen on Jerusalem's walls, who will never be silent day or night, reminding God of His promises and not giving Him rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth. God's faithfulness and love for Jerusalem are unwavering. He promises to rejoice over Jerusalem like a bridegroom rejoices over his bride. He will bring salvation and restoration to Jerusalem, and her people will be called 'the Holy People' and 'the Redeemed of the Lord'. They will no longer be forsaken or desolate, but instead, they will be a city sought after by all nations. God's promise of salvation and restoration brings hope and assurance to Jerusalem and all who trust in Him.
