Easy Bible・Jeremiah 1
Jeremiah 1:4
The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
In Jeremiah 1, God calls Jeremiah to be a prophet while he is still young. God tells Jeremiah that even before he was born, God had set him apart and appointed him as a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah feels inadequate and says he is too young and does not know how to speak, but God reassures him and promises to be with him. God then touches Jeremiah's mouth and puts his words in his mouth. He appoints Jeremiah over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant. God assures Jeremiah that he will be with him and will rescue him from his enemies. Jeremiah's call and commission teach us that God has a purpose and plan for each of us, even from before we were born. It also shows us that God equips and empowers those whom He calls, regardless of their age or abilities. Just as God was with Jeremiah, He promises to be with us in every situation and will give us the words and strength we need to fulfill His calling.
