Easy Bible・Jeremiah 4
Jeremiah 4:5
"Announce in Judah and proclaim in Jerusalem and say: 'Sound the trumpet throughout the land!' Cry aloud and say: 'Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities!'
In Jeremiah 4, God warns the people of Judah about the impending destruction that will come upon them if they do not repent and turn back to Him. The chapter begins with a call to the nations to blow the trumpet and raise a signal, as a warning of the enemy's approach. The prophet describes the devastation that will come upon the land, with images of darkness, desolation, and destruction. He urges the people to circumcise their hearts and remove the evil from their lives, in order to avoid the judgment that is to come. Jeremiah warns of the impending invasion by a nation from the north, whose warriors are fierce and relentless. He describes the enemy's advance, the destruction they will bring, and the devastation that will be left in their wake. The prophet laments over the destruction, crying out in anguish for the people of Judah. He mourns over the desolation of the cities and the ruin of the land. Amidst the warning of destruction, there is a glimmer of hope. God promises that if the people of Judah repent and return to Him, He will have compassion on them and restore their fortunes. The chapter ends with a call to the people to acknowledge their guilt and seek the Lord, for only in Him can they find salvation and deliverance from the impending judgment.
