Jeremiah 6:16
This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.'

About this Chapter

In Jeremiah 6, God warns the people of Judah about their sinful ways and the impending destruction that will come as a result. He calls out to them, saying 'Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.' However, the people refuse to listen and instead continue in their rebellion. God declares that He will bring disaster upon the people, using a foreign nation as His instrument of judgement. He describes this nation as fierce and relentless, like a bronze serpent. The people of Judah are warned to prepare for battle, but they are described as a stubborn and rebellious people who refuse to heed the warning. Despite the impending judgement, God still offers a glimmer of hope. He says, 'I will refine them and test them, for what else can I do because of the sin of my people?' God's desire is for His people to turn back to Him and find restoration. However, the people's hearts are hardened, and they continue in their sinful ways.
