Easy Bible・Jeremiah 7
Jeremiah 7:1
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
In Jeremiah 7, God sends Jeremiah to the temple in Jerusalem to deliver a message to the people of Judah. The chapter begins with God telling Jeremiah to stand at the gate of the Lord's house and proclaim a message of warning to the people who come to worship there. God accuses the people of engaging in false worship, thinking that they can continue their sinful ways and still come to the temple to seek His favor. He reminds them that true worship involves not only going through the motions of religious rituals, but also living a life of obedience and righteousness. Despite God's repeated warnings and pleas for them to repent, the people of Judah stubbornly refuse to listen. They continue to oppress the weak, commit adultery, offer sacrifices to other gods, and engage in other wicked practices. As a result, God declares that He will bring destruction upon the temple and the city of Jerusalem.
